When you bring your kittens home they will be fully vaccinated and will have the following paperwork: ö A vaccination record card ö A five generation pedigree ö A pink registration form – you will need to send this back to the GCCF to change the owner to yourself. Instructions are on the slip ö A copy of the kitten sale agreement ö A copy of the General Code of Ethics for Breeders and Owners (a copy can be found on the GCCF website)
Below is a list of basic items you will need to have ready for when you bring the kittens home: ö A carry cage to bring them home in ö A litter tray, they are used to the covered sort (creates much less mess!) ö Litter – we use Catsan but Sophisticat is good too. ö A bed, cats tend to like the covered variety, it makes them feel safe ö Food and water bowls – avoid plastic, it can cause cat acne! ö A scratching post ö A few toys – small balls and soft mice go down particularly well! There are huge quantities of toys on the market, it’s often a case of trial and error to discover what they like. You’ll be amazed by what they find to play with at home too! ö Food – they are currently eating Royal Canin Kitten 34. This is a complete food, they don’t need any other food to supplement it but a supply of fresh water must always be available. Please note: if you wish to give your kittens a different type of food it must be done slowly over the course of several days. Kittens have delicate stomachs and will not be able to cope with a sudden radical change. I will be very happy to advise you how to go about doing this. When you bring your kittens home, show them where their litter tray, food and water are as soon as possible. They may be very shy to start with but with lots of cuddles and reassurance they should settle in quickly.
